The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. as the guard exited a Saks Off Fifth outlet store and was approached by an armed perpetrator who attempted to steal from a Brinks truck.
Witnesses report a struggle ensued, prompting the guard to return fire, striking the offender, who managed to escape the scene with stolen items but was apprehended shortly thereafter. Chicago police confirmed that the suspect is currently in stable condition and that charges are pending as the investigation continues.
