Woman Sentenced for Role in First Responders’ Deaths

Ashley Anne Dyrdahl, 37, is sentenced to three years and nine months in federal prison for illegally purchasing firearms for her boyfriend, Shannon Gooden, who used them to ambush and kill three Burnsville first responders on February 18, 2024. During the emotional courtroom proceedings, relatives of the victims expressed their grief and called for a harsher sentence, highlighting the devastating impact of the crime on their lives.

Gooden had a prior felony conviction that prohibited him from possessing firearms, yet Dyrdahl knowingly supplied him with weapons, which led to a violent standoff that left officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand and firefighter Adam Finseth dead. Prosecutors emphasized that Dyrdahl’s actions directly contributed to the tragedy, as she provided firearms to a man she feared. The case raises critical questions about gun control and accountability in violent crimes.
