Charlie Kirk’s Past on Gun Violence Questioned After Death

Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on Wednesday at Utah Valley University, prompting reflection on a controversial moment from his past. During a 2021 rally in Idaho, an audience member asked him, “When do we get to use the guns?” to which Kirk replied that he believed in using peaceful means to address political issues, underscoring his stance against violence despite the charged atmosphere surrounding his activism.

Since that rally, Kirk has frequently visited Idaho, where community leaders are now expressing their sorrow over his death, labeling it a tragic example of political violence. Idaho Governor Brad Little and other officials have condemned the act, with Little emphasizing the need to reject violence and calling for solidarity during this difficult time. Kirk’s public appearances often drew heated questions and discussions, reflecting his controversial role in contemporary politics—making his untimely death all the more significant.
