A coordinated effort by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of a suspect involved in an armed robbery over the weekend. The suspect, armed with a handgun and wearing gloves and a mask, forced a victim to open both a safe and cash register at a business near East Sahuarita Road and South Houghton Road, making off with approximately $2,500 in cash.
Thanks to the quick reactions of patrol deputies and crucial information from the victim, law enforcement identified the suspect’s vehicle, which was later located using surveillance aircraft. Officers apprehended the suspect after he attempted to flee on foot, recovering the stolen money and the firearm linked to the crime. The sheriff’s department praised the teamwork of multiple units that contributed to the successful capture of the suspect, who now faces multiple felony charges.
