Chad Berry, a 37-year-old wanted man, is in custody following a police pursuit in Clarksburg on Thursday afternoon. The U.S. Marshals Service had been tracking Berry due to violations of his federal supervised release related to a firearms conviction from 2017. After exiting a home in Anmoore and ignoring officers’ attempts to pull him over, Berry fled westbound on Route 50, ultimately leading to a dramatic chase that ended when his vehicle collided with a sheriff’s office vehicle.
During the pursuit, Berry disposed of a firearm and a bag, which were later recovered by law enforcement officials. His arrest marks a significant enforcement effort, with Acting U.S. Marshal Terry Moore highlighting the essential role of collaboration with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in apprehending this dangerous fugitive. Berry faces multiple charges due to his actions during the chase and has a history of gun and drug offenses, as well as previous attempts to evade police.
