A Toronto judge acquits rapper Christian Collins, known as Da Crook, of involvement in a high-profile $6.5 million watch robbery. In her ruling, Justice Sheila Ray meticulously addresses ten points raised by the prosecution, concluding they do not establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Surveillance footage captured the robbery, wherein masked suspects stole 150 luxury watches, primarily Rolexes, from a luxury dealer on Spadina Avenue.
The judge’s analysis highlights numerous coincidences cited by the Crown, including DNA evidence on a balaclava found at the crime scene and Collins’s purchase of walkie-talkies. However, Ray deemed it “unreasonable” to conclude that these items linked Collins to the crime, insisting that the evidence presented did not meet the legal threshold for conviction.
