A 37-year-old man is hospitalized after being attacked with a machete and robbed early Sunday morning on the West Side of San Antonio. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Ruiz and North Zarzamora Streets, where the victim was approached by an unknown assailant who demanded his wallet. After the victim refused, he sustained severe facial lacerations when struck by the machete.
The machete-wielding robber fled the scene with the victim’s cellphone and wallet in an older model Chevrolet Trailblazer. The San Antonio Police Department confirms that the injuries, while serious, are non-life-threatening, and an investigation is underway to locate the suspect, whose description has yet to be released.
