Authorities arrest a 38-year-old Berkeley security guard for allegedly using a forged concealed carry permit and possessing an unregistered AR-15 assault rifle. The investigation unfolded after the guard’s former employer contacted the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office to verify his pistol permit, only to discover it was fraudulent, prompting an immediate termination.
During the subsequent search of his apartment, police found not only the unregistered weapon but also a replica Glock and 19 fentanyl pills in his car. The man, who has a court order that prohibits him from firearm possession, pleaded not guilty on October 24 and is currently out of jail while the case proceeds.
