Two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, are hospitalized after an accidental shooting occurred in an Edmond home on Sunday night. The incident happened when the older teen was handling a handgun, which accidentally discharged, resulting in injuries to both boys. The younger teen was struck in the abdomen, and the older teen shot himself in the hand.
Emergency calls reveal the frantic moments that followed the accidental shooting, with the older teen admitting, “I shot my friend on accident.” Thankfully, both boys were taken to OU Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Edmond Police emphasize the importance of gun safety and encourage parents to discuss firearm-related risks with one another, highlighting the availability of free gun locks at local police stations.
