Five Grand Rapids organizations are set to receive $10,000 each to launch community initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence, announced during the recent “Pitch Night” event. Hosted by the Safe Alliances for Everyone Task Force, local leaders listened to innovative proposals focusing on youth engagement and social development.
Among the awardees, the Beautiful Rose Foundation aims to support youth through after-school programs and scholarships, with founder Brandon Smith drawing from personal experiences with gun violence to inspire change. Additionally, the Nitrogen Urban Network is promoting its “AI in the City” program, which trains young people in artificial intelligence technology, preparing them for a rapidly evolving job market.
