A Memphis man, Corwyn Winfield, faces multiple charges after allegedly jumping out of his ex-girlfriend’s closet with an AR-style rifle and threatening her and her current boyfriend while they slept. The shocking incident unfolded when Winfield confronted the couple and their five-year-old child, leading to a struggle that resulted in Winfield being shot in the arm as he brandished the weapon.
The altercation took place late Saturday night, just as police report that Winfield’s three children, all under six years old, were inside the home during the confrontation. Winfield, who was later treated for his injuries, is now being held on a $400,000 bond and faces serious charges including aggravated assault and domestic violence. His court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, sparking heightened concern over the dangerous implications of such domestic disputes.
