Rochester police have arrested 18-year-old Dino Vele after they discovered he was armed with a ghost gun during a high-risk traffic stop early Thursday morning. The vehicle, which held five occupants under the age of 21, was pulled over at the Hwy. 52/55th St. NW interchange around 2:40 a.m., following reports of disorderly conduct in the area.
During the stop, officers located a firearm without a serial number and alcohol inside the vehicle. Vele is expected to face firearm charges as police investigate the connection between the arrest and the earlier disorderly conduct report. This incident raises ongoing concerns about the presence of untraceable weapons, often referred to as “ghost guns,” in the community and their role in youth-related offenses.
