A 91-year-old retired Memphis police officer, John Allen, is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the hand during a violent dispute over car repairs. The incident occurred last month when the suspect, 27-year-old Tavares Sheeks, allegedly opened fire on Allen’s home after a confrontation involving a refund for an uncompleted car repair job.
Multiple bullets struck the residence, with Allen narrowly avoiding life-threatening injury as he moved to the front of his home. The shooting took place with several people, including a two-year-old child, present inside, raising serious concerns about the reckless endangerment posed by the assailant. Sheeks has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and is currently held on a significant bond, awaiting his court appearance.
