A bipartisan group of Wisconsin legislators has introduced a bill to expand deer hunting options for disabled military veterans. Senate Bill 505 aims to permit these veterans to hunt deer of either sex during any firearm hunting season, a privilege currently reserved for active military members.
This initiative is designed to address issues faced by disabled veterans in securing hunting permits, especially for antlerless deer, where availability can be limited. The bill, introduced on October 2 and backed by multiple state senators and representatives, seeks to provide equal hunting rights for residents with significant disabilities, defined as those with a 50% or greater rating or deemed unemployable due to their condition.
