Early Sunday morning, nine individuals were injured in a shooting at an Airbnb rental in Bath Township, Ohio, during a large birthday party that had been widely advertised on social media. Responding to reports of gunfire around 12:16 a.m., emergency crews faced a chaotic scene as victims, a mix of juveniles and adults, were treated and transported to nearby hospitals, though their conditions have not been disclosed.
Police Chief Vito Sinopoli condemned the violence as “senseless” and emphasized the importance of community safety in light of the incident, which is currently under investigation by local law enforcement and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. As part of their inquiry, authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and urging anyone with information to step forward. This incident also raises questions about the safety of short-term rentals, particularly as the property hosting the event was operating in violation of local zoning regulations.
