Nashvillians Seek Stricter Gun Laws and More Police

A new study by the Nashville Police and Public Safety Alliance reveals that a significant 67% of residents are calling for increased gun regulations and more police officers to enhance their sense of safety in the city. This marks a notable decline in feelings of security, dropping from 73% in 2024, highlighting growing concerns among the population regarding crime and public safety.

Moreover, the study identifies additional alarming trends: only 45% of respondents believe children are safe in public spaces, and key factors contributing to crime are perceived to include poverty and easy access to firearms. As public safety continues to be a pressing issue for those in neighborhoods like Antioch and Crieve Hall, many feel that solutions may lie in improving mental health services and reforming the criminal justice system. This comprehensive study surveyed over 1,000 Nashville adults, bringing vital insights into the city’s challenges and potential pathways forward.
