Montgomery County is set to hold its fourth annual Gun Buyback Event on Saturday, November 15, at RedGate Park in Rockville, as part of a community initiative to remove firearms from circulation. Participants can receive gift cards ranging from $100 for handguns and rifles to $200 for assault-style weapons and ghost guns, ensuring those weapons are permanently destroyed to prevent future risks.
The event, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is a collaboration between the Rockville City Police Department and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. State’s Attorney John McCarthy emphasizes that reducing the number of firearms helps lower violence and mitigate risks associated with accidental harm or suicide, making it crucial for community safety.
