Approximately half of these injuries occur in their own homes when children find loaded and unlocked firearms, underscoring the urgency for education on gun safety and proper storage practices. Norton Children’s advocates for the “triple safe storage method,” which calls for firearms to be unloaded and locked away, and ammunition stored separately.
