This Veterans Day, two veteran-owned businesses, Born Primitive and Black Rifle Coffee Company, commit to raising up to $25 million to help erase medical debt for over 10,000 veterans. Their campaign pledges 100% of profits from sales made between November 7 and 11, with last year’s effort generating $11 million for the same cause. Both companies’ founders, military veterans themselves, aim to directly relieve eligible veterans’ medical debts by collaborating with ForgiveCo.
One notable success from previous efforts includes the cancellation of nearly $341,000 in medical debt for a Gold Star spouse and Army veteran in Denver. The company leaders express urgency and hope to complete the debt forgiveness process by Christmas, all while advocating for systemic changes to prevent future medical debt among veterans. “No one deliberately incurs medical debt,” says Born Primitive CEO Bear Handlon, emphasizing the unpredictability of such financial burdens.
