A Columbia man, Jordan Thompson, has been arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon following an incident on June 18. Thompson, 28, allegedly threatened a victim with a knife and demanded their belongings in downtown Columbia, according to police reports. The alleged victim was struck with a bottle and had items including a phone and vape devices taken from him during the confrontation.
Thompson’s arrest occurred on November 11 for an unrelated warrant, prompting police to question him about the robbery. In his statement, Thompson admitted to robbing the victim but claimed to have used a beer can instead of a knife during the assault. As he faces serious charges, Thompson is currently being held at the Boone County Jail without bond, with a court date yet to be scheduled.
