Additionally, Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott raised alarms over the implications of recent court rulings on open-carry laws, which could allow firearms at polling places. Scott emphasized the potential dangers, noting that past situations involving guns at voting sites have often led to voter intimidation. Meanwhile, Sheriff Gregory Tony detailed the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s struggles with funding for recruiting, highlighting a $71 million budget increase request that was significantly pared down by the County Commission.
