Chris Hendricks, a 30-year-old hunter and Polaris employee, tragically loses his life while attempting to save a friend’s dog during a duck hunting trip in North Dakota. On November 12, as Hendricks and his friend Max DiVenere hunted, Max’s young Labrador, Clyde, became trapped in icy waters, prompting Hendricks to plunge in without hesitation to rescue the animal.
Despite freeing Clyde, the frigid conditions took a dire toll on Hendricks, who succumbed to the cold as he struggled to return to shore. Known for his adventurous spirit and deep love for the outdoors, Hendricks had a passion for hunting that he shared with DiVenere, with whom he founded Indiana University’s first Ducks Unlimited Chapter. His heroic act and dedication to his friends and family reflect the indelible mark he left on those around him, driving home the profound loss felt by his community.
