Andrew Weaver of Warren County has been sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to charges of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a handgun stemming from a shooting incident in August 2023. Weaver’s sentence mandates that he serve at least 85% of his term before being eligible for parole, marking a significant outcome in the ongoing fight against firearm offenses in the region.
On the night of the shooting, Phillipsburg police responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired at a residence, fortunately without injuries. Police later identified Weaver as the shooter through video evidence and subsequently found him in a vehicle containing a loaded Glock 9mm handgun. This case highlights not only the serious nature of gun violence but also the proactive measures law enforcement is taking to address such crimes in the community.
