This past weekend, the California Sierra Chapter of Safari Club International and The Modern Savage successfully hosted community pheasant hunts at Lake Success Wildlife Area, emphasizing conservation and responsible hunting. The events included the inaugural Golden Age Hunt for participants aged 65 and older and the annual Ladies Hunt, showcasing a growing interest in female participation in the sport.
Organizers planted 200 rooster pheasants and provided participants with essential safety briefings before each hunt, ensuring a supportive atmosphere for both seasoned and novice hunters. The weekend not only rekindled traditions for many but also highlighted the importance of local fundraising efforts aimed at sustaining outdoor programs and public hunting opportunities in the Central Valley. For those interested in supporting future initiatives, the chapter will hold its Annual Fundraising Banquet on April 25, 2026.
