A recent study by the Violence Policy Center (VPC) highlights the existence of “hidden” gun manufacturers in Wisconsin, with a staggering 80% of federal license holders not reporting any gun production in the past year. The research uncovers that many of these licensed manufacturers operate from residential properties, leaving nearby residents unaware of their capability to produce high-powered firearms, including fully automatic machine guns.
The study also reveals a 49% increase in Type 07 Federal Firearms License holders in Wisconsin from 2020 to 2024, yet regulations remain weak. With only 8% of all license holders undergoing compliance inspections, concerns mount over the potential misuse of these licenses. State officials are now urged to implement stricter oversight to ensure community safety.
