Two Arrested in Abandoned Holyoke Building

Holyoke police apprehend two men, including armed robbery suspect Melquiades Cabrera, in an abandoned building on November 26. Authorities were investigating drug-dealing complaints when they discovered Cabrera, 36, and Edwin Nazario, 43, inside the condemned structure, prompting charges of breaking and entering and trespassing against both individuals.

Further adding to the seriousness of the situation, Cabrera had an outstanding arrest warrant for armed and masked robbery. Police are taking steps to contact the property owner to secure the building, while also notifying health officials of the ongoing issues related to the property. This incident highlights concerns surrounding drug activity in the area and the challenges posed by vacant, unsafe buildings.
