A 32-year-old man, identified as Colby Smith, is arrested following an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping that took place early Tuesday morning at a gas station in Harrison Township. The incident began around 6 a.m. when the victim stopped to inflate a tire and was confronted by Smith, who brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s vehicle, forcing him into the passenger seat before driving away.
The situation escalated when the suspect drove to an area near N. Dixie Drive and National Road in Vandalia, ordering the victim to exit the vehicle. Shortly after, officers located the stolen vehicle in Dayton, leading to a brief chase that ended in Smith’s capture. Law enforcement discovered a loaded handgun inside the vehicle, and Smith faces multiple charges including armed robbery and kidnapping, with additional counts for possessing firearms under disability.
