Mark Allen Geralds, 58, is set to be executed in Florida on Tuesday for the 1989 murder of Tressa Pettibone during a violent home invasion. Convicted of murder, armed robbery, and related charges, Geralds was sentenced to death in 1990, though his sentence was briefly vacated before being reinstated in 1992.
In a chilling detail, Pettibone’s eight-year-old son discovered her body after she was stabbed and beaten in their Panama City home. Geralds, a carpenter who had previouly worked at the home, was linked to the crime when investigators found jewelry with her blood in his possession. His execution marks Florida’s 18th in 2025, a year that has already seen a record number of executions in the state.
