A juvenile has been arrested on firearms charges in Stamford, Connecticut, following the recovery of a loaded handgun within a local business. The Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics & Organized Crime Unit acted on a tip regarding the possession of a weapon by a juvenile male, leading to the discovery of a Springfield Armory XD-40 semi-automatic handgun, which was fitted with a high-capacity magazine containing 11 rounds and a laser sighting device.
The juvenile is charged with possession of a pistol without a permit, illicit transfer of a firearm, and illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine. Following the arrest, he was taken to the Youth Bureau and then remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center. This incident raises significant concerns about youth firearm access, prompting a court appearance scheduled for December 8.
