A deer that had been killed and tagged by hunters in Perry County’s Tuscarora State Forest was reported stolen after being stashed behind a tree for safekeeping. The hunting party returned to find the nine-point buck missing, suspecting it was dragged to a parking area for removal, as indicated by evidence found at the scene.
The deer is notable for its impressive antlers, previously recorded as a ten-point but later classified as a nine-point due to damage. Forest officials are urging locals with trail cameras in the area to check for any signs of the theft, as there is a chance the thief may have shared images of the deer. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact state authorities.
