A recent report from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service highlights Florida’s ranking as the top state for certain migratory bird hunts, particularly for the Ring-necked Duck and Mottled Duck. In 2024, Florida achieved the largest estimated harvest of both species, totaling 140,058 and 20,749, respectively, marking significant contributions to the national totals.
Interestingly, the report shows that Florida accounts for 46.5% of the national harvest of Mottled Ducks, underscoring the state’s importance to waterfowl enthusiasts. Additionally, the Blue-winged and Cinnamon Teals rank as a key hunting target, with the state contributing 52,614 to the national harvest of 1.3 million. These statistics offer insight into Florida’s robust hunting environment, prompting both conservation discussions and hunting regulations.
