A Syracuse man, Benjamin Delee, 42, barricades himself inside his home for over two hours after allegedly threatening a neighbor with a firearm. Police responded to a call about the incident on Washington Square at 8:18 a.m., but upon arrival, Delee refused to exit, revealing he had active warrants for serious charges including second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
After a lengthy standoff, Delee finally surrendered to police around 10:30 a.m. and has since been charged with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The situation drew a response from SWAT officers as part of protocol to ensure public safety, leaving multiple police vehicles at the scene until the situation was resolved.
