Authorities in Washington, Iowa, have arrested 21-year-old Jedadiah West Reed Holden for allegedly carrying firearms onto school grounds, following the discovery of two unloaded handguns under a tree near Washington High School’s baseball field. The arrest comes almost a week after police responded to suspicious activity linked to Holden, who was identified through surveillance footage after placing the firearms on May 22.
The Washington Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abandoned weapons, which were reported by a citizen on May 30. School officials praised the swift actions of law enforcement, noting that several school events occurred between the time the handguns were left and their retrieval, raising questions about safety and security on school property.
