D.C. Man Gets 30 Months for Gun Crimes While on Probation

Charles Wesley Monroe, a 20-year-old from Washington, D.C., receives a 30-month prison sentence for possessing a firearm as a felon, following a series of violent crimes committed while on probation. In April 2024, he was involved in an armed robbery targeting an Uber Eats delivery driver, with the crime captured on surveillance cameras. A striking detail in the case is that Monroe was later seen on Instagram flaunting stolen jewelry alongside another individual.

Further escalating his criminal behavior, Monroe was connected to a street shooting that injured an innocent bystander. During a police pursuit, he discarded a handgun that ultimately linked back to him through DNA evidence. U.S. District Court Judge Jia M. Cobb has mandated an additional three years of supervised release post-incarceration, emphasizing the continued threat Monroe poses. Law enforcement agencies, including the ATF and FBI, collaborated extensively to bring his case to justice.
