NC National Guard Receives 10,000 Gun Locks for Safety

The North Carolina National Guard recently received 10,000 gun locks as part of the NC S.A.F.E. Campaign, aimed at enhancing firearm safety and preventing self-harm among its members. This initiative, unveiled during a press conference at the NCNG Joint Force Headquarters, reflects a focused effort to provide soldiers, airmen, and their families with tools to securely store firearms, thereby reducing the risk of accidental harm.

This distribution is a part of a broader mission by NC S.A.F.E. to increase awareness on responsible gun ownership, which has already provided over 100,000 gun locks across the state. According to NCNG Lt. Col. Ellis Parks, these gun locks are crucial for safeguarding lives, reinforcing the message from NCDPS Secretary Eddie Buffaloe that “safely storing firearms saves lives.” The commitment to enhancing safety within the National Guard aims not just to protect service members but also to positively impact the community at large.
