A 17-year-old male is reported to be in serious condition after a shooting incident occurred in Bernice, Louisiana, early Sunday morning. The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of young males allegedly armed with assault rifles near U.S. Highway 167, coinciding with a large event at a nearby club. Despite initial checks, deputies were only alerted to gunfire shortly after their arrival, leading to the teen’s critical injuries and subsequent airlift to LSU Shreveport for treatment.
In addition to the injured teenager, a woman in the area sustained injuries from flying glass after her vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire, although she has since been released from the hospital. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are pursuing several persons of interest while no arrests have been made as of yet.
