Cincinnati police have identified a 17-year-old high school student, Jayshawn Cornelius, as the victim of a shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning. Authorities responded to a Shotspotter alert around 1:30 a.m. and discovered over a dozen bullet holes in the front of the home on Percy Avenue, indicating the teenager was shot multiple times from outside the residence.

The tragic incident has prompted Cincinnati Public Schools to extend their condolences and support to Cornelius’s family, friends, and the Hughes STEM High School community. School officials have made counselors available for grieving students as the investigation into the shooting continues, raising concerns about safety and violence in the area.
