The 4th Family organization has officially launched the Promoting, Resilience, Ownership, Prosperity, Equity and Leadership (PROPEL) program in Albany County, focusing on violence prevention through community engagement and mentorship. This innovative initiative responds to the economic and educational challenges that often drive youth toward violence, advocating for education, entrepreneurship, and the rebuilding of community pride.
With nearly $20,000 in support from Albany County and an additional $200,000 from the Carl E. Touhey Foundation, the PROPEL program aims to address root causes of youth violence by providing long-term opportunities for personal and professional growth. The initiative reflects a commitment to shifting public safety discourse from mere enforcement to proactive investment in community resources, demonstrating that holistic solutions are essential for meaningful change.
