A 30-year-old man from Abbeville has been arrested on multiple firearm-related charges and for possessing body armor marked “Secret Service.” The arrest, conducted by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, follows a wanted suspect investigation where Taylor Bares was found at his home with an array of weapons, including 12 long guns and several handguns. Law enforcement also discovered hard plates of body armor during the search of his residence.
Authorities have charged Bares with 15 counts of firearm possession as a convicted felon and additional charges connected to domestic abuse battery and illegal possession of body armor. The investigation remains active, and Sheriff Eddie Langlinais urges the public to report any further illegal activity anonymously through local crime hotlines. The seizure of such a significant cache of firearms and ammunition raises concerns about safety in the community.
