Legislators are divided on these issues, with Republican leaders suggesting that manufacturers shouldn’t be held accountable for misuse of their products. At the rally, advocates also stress the urgent need for state funding for domestic violence programs, warning that cuts in federal funding could cripple critical resources. “These new gun laws will not protect survivors if our domestic violence programs close their doors,” stated advocate Faith Brown, emphasizing the interconnectedness of gun violence and domestic support systems.
