A shooting incident near Kirtland Air Force Base results in one airman dead and another injured early Saturday morning. The victim, 27-year-old Airman Basic Brion Teel-Scott from Bordentown, N.J., was shot during an attempted detention and subsequently succumbed to his injuries, while a second airman sustained gunshot wounds to the hand.
According to reports, security forces responded to an event near the Truman gate around 2 a.m., leading to an off-base pursuit and the tragic exchange of gunfire. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the FBI are currently probing the incident, which has deeply affected the base community. “Losing a member of your team is never easy,” noted Col. Michael Power, the commander of the 377th Air Base Wing, highlighting the ongoing support for those impacted.
