The event unfolded around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, triggering a massive response from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, who rushed to the scene to search for a reported gunman.
Despite the initial panic, it was determined that no actual firearm was involved; the object in question was an airsoft replica. Around 100 officers assisted in ensuring safety and order, even stationing personnel at residence halls overnight.
