This release comes in the wake of a violent Fourth of July weekend in which 10 people, primarily teenagers, were shot in the streets of Albany, prompting Thompson, a coordinator for the Albany Violence Prevention Task Force, to take action through music.
Offering a message of hope, the lyrics of “Ceasefire in Everytown” champion peace and community healing, aiming to resonate with younger audiences using relatable street language free from profanity. Thompson believes in the power of music to inspire change and provides an alternative to a lifestyle often glorified in contemporary hip-hop.
