A 72-year-old employee at the Soul Deli in St. Albans is recovering after being pistol-whipped during an armed robbery on the evening of May 1. As police continue their investigation, they are seeking the assailant, described as having a dark complexion and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, who stole a total of $400 from the deli and the victim.
On the night of the incident, the victim was attacked by a masked stranger who entered the deli around 6:45 p.m. Authorities report that the suspect approached the elderly worker, struck him in the head with a firearm, and proceeded to punch him before fleeing the scene. This violent crime has raised concerns as it follows a troubling trend, with felony assaults in the 103rd Precinct reportedly increasing this year.
