An 18-year-old man, Gabron Polk, is in custody after attempting to rob another individual at gunpoint in Clay on Sunday morning. Authorities report that Polk tried to steal the victim’s phone and vehicle but fled on foot after the robbery failed, prompting a swift response from state police approximately 30 minutes later.
Officers located Polk hiding in a wooded area near Wetzel Road Elementary School, where they discovered a 9 mm ghost gun in his possession. Charged with attempted robbery and several weapons offenses, Polk’s previous criminal history includes additional robbery charges earlier this year. He is currently held at the Justice Center without bail.
