Officers with the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety took a suspect into custody following an armed robbery at 1017 Chestnut Street late Friday night. The incident involved a male armed with a weapon who allegedly stole approximately $6,300 in cash and a cellphone from the victim, after being allowed into the room by a female acquaintance.
Subsequent to the robbery, DPS officers located the suspect’s vehicle, prompting a chase that ended in Dorchester County. Multiple agencies collaborated in the pursuit, during which drugs and weapons were recovered from the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full details of the incident.
