The world’s largest arms producers recorded an unprecedented revenue of $679 billion in 2024, marking a 5.9% increase from the previous year, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). This surge is largely attributed to heightened military spending fueled by ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, as well as growing global demand for military services and equipment.
Prominent U.S. firms, including Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, saw revenue gains contributing to a combined total of $334 billion, despite challenges in arms program developments. European companies also thrived, with significant increases from entities such as the Czech Republic’s Czechoslovak Group, which soared by 193%. SIPRI cautions, however, that sourcing materials for production could soon become more challenging due to evolving supply chain dynamics, especially with regard to critical minerals.
