Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 24-year-old woman, Ailyn Mendez, after it was revealed she stole more than $7,000 from bank customers at Self-Help Credit Union in Lamont. The investigation into Mendez unearthed a second suspect, 27-year-old Angel Alfaro, who was found in her residence in possession of illegal firearms, including a loaded handgun and an AR-15 style rifle.
Both suspects face multiple charges, with Mendez charged with grand theft and computer fraud, while Alfaro is arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
