At least 10 injured in Little River shooting incident

At least 10 people are injured following a shooting in Little River, South Carolina, believed to have originated from an altercation during a private Memorial Day weekend gathering. The Horry County Police Department reports that those with the most severe injuries are in critical but stable condition at local hospitals. In addition to the gunfire, one person sustained a non-gunfire-related injury as police confirmed the incident is isolated and poses no ongoing risk to the community.

Emergency response was significant, with at least 11 individuals transported to hospitals by fire-rescue teams, and others arriving via private vehicles. The shooting occurred near a boat dock by the Intracoastal Waterway, prompting a swift response that included multiple police and ambulance units. In a related incident, a North Myrtle Beach officer accidentally shot himself while responding to the scene but is reported to be in stable condition after treatment.
