Police in Auburn arrested Joseph F. Tamilio after responding to a report of a weapon at his residence on Boston Avenue. Upon arrival, Tamilio admitted to owning a 9mm handgun, identified as a “ghost gun,” meaning it has no serial number, making it difficult to trace and regulate.
Notably, Tamilio had previously been denied a pistol permit due to a felony arrest from the early 2000s, even though he has no convictions. He now faces charges for criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony, and was processed at the Auburn Police Headquarters before being taken to Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.
